The final original structures were demolished in 2007, and Hillmorton Hospital now provides dedicated mental health services on a nearby site.
Additional historical features include a Carmelite monastery established in 1933, the first of its order in New Zealand. Post-2010–2011 earthquake recovery included road and infrastructure upgrades across Christchurch, improving connectivity in the suburb.
